Senior Center Artists Receive Awards

One of Rhett Franco’s paintings has recently been awarded second place at the Lancaster County Art Association Art Show. This work of art was painted at the Senior Center’s Wednesday morning Art class under the watchful eye of instructor Albert Gans. This is not her first award as she has been recognized in previous years for her artistic ability.

Theresa Taylor, another one of the many seniors who receives painting instruction from Mr. Gans at the Center’s Art Class, has also received Art Awards from the Sheridan Hotel located in King of Prussia.

Many of the class participants display their paintings on the walls of our lunchroom. They are excited to have the community see their artistic masterpieces while attending our many food fundraisers which are open to the general public. In the past year, a few of those community members enjoyed and admired the paintings so much that they purchased a few of them from Art class members including Ms. Taylor and Hazel Shoemaker.

Congratulations to both Rhett and Theresa for the recognition of their talents!!

The Art Classes at the Oxford Area Senior Center are held every Wednesday morning from 8:30-11:30am under the instruction of local artist Albert Gans. Students learn to paint in water colors, acrylic and oil. Please contact the Center if you would like to expand your artistic talents and have a good time doing it!!
